New Year, New Theme
It has become a traditional rule to decide on a theme for the New Year. It’s based on Danielle LaPorte’s “Core Desired Feelings”-method. Instead of making a list of New Year’s resolutions and goals, you are supposed to go to the root feeling of those goals, find your Why – what feeling/s will generate from reaching your goals? It’s kind of like setting an intention to the Universe and then go on about your day, or year in this instance.
Last year I decided on the theme Prosperity. And just like the themes before it, I very much reached to have that feeling in one way or another at the end of the year. For example, 2017 was the most profitable year for me as a blogger and I got many opportunities to work with brands and companies. And the blog was something I really wanted to prosper in. It doesn’t mean I can pay my rent (yet!), but it does enable me to keep blogging and feeling at service and even accountable to bring forth better content. And not to mention, you can now expect some great giveaways from me! I never did giveaways before because it always meant digging from my own pocket, it’s not sustainable. With the money made last year, I have now a budget to spend on some great things to give back to you! – Can I get a “Yay!”?
So for this year, I’m going to continue riding that Prosperity-wave, but I’ll change the wording a bit…
The theme of my 2018 is Gold
Why Gold?
Well, for the last couple of years I’ve been hugely drawn to metals. Maybe it’s no wonder as I, in Chinese Astrology, fall under the element Metal (Sheep). It started with Silver, moved on to Copper, then Brass, and for the last three years, it’s been all about Gold. I can’t get enough of it! You’ve probably seen hints of it in my pictures, from accessories to mustard fabrics. I always feel safe, protected and strengthened when it surrounds me.
The core desired feeling that my goals all have in common can be represented in everything Gold stands for. We have the Midas touch, the hope that everything I touch or give my intention to turns prosperous. Gold usually takes the spotlight, in a positive way, and it’s something I want more of. Gold is always loved and hold to great value – I want to feel valued. Gold usually goes hand-in-hand with wealth, and there’s nothing more I want than to succeed with my own independence and secure a successful finance for my future. Having a golden feeling, that high of things going really well for you. There’s so much more attached to it, I can go on and on about it. But simply, having this intention in mind should make me make better decisions that take me closer to this feeling and all that it brings and means to me.
Gold Feeling
I can’t help but get a bit teary-eyed when writing this. It’s like I realize how much of my desired feelings are wrapped into what this physical object projects. I’m very passionate about it, it runs close to my heart. And that’s a good thing, that’s how the theme should feel when setting it.
This will also be the first theme/feeling that I can actually touch and have with me; it’s not just an intention, but something I can hold and look at. A pet rock, you could say. It will be interesting to see if there will be any difference in how this theme will materialize into my life.
So I’m off to get my gold feeling ;) And by the way, while researching I came across this song by Golden Suits. Will definitelly keep it as the first song in the soundtrack of 2018!
