When Omiana contacted me, I got excited as I know many of you have sensitive skin. It also opened my eyes, as I didn’t know you could have skin sensitivities to Mica or Titanium Dioxide, especially as the latter is recommended for sensitive skin! But if you do suffer from any rare ingredient sensitivity, Omiana has you covered.
* I was kindly sent a few products for review and to showcase, but my opinion and feedback remains 100% my own.
Omiana | Natural Vegan Primer for Face & Eyes w/ Resveratrol
Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, Iron Oxides-free. Does contain Mica.
This silicon and fragrance-free primer goes on light and feels moisturizing to the skin and can be used around the eyes too. One pump is enough to cover the whole face. However, compared to other primers, it takes about 3 minutes for it to dry. Which can seem like a long time? After that, it keeps a relatively matte finish (in feel) and gives your skin a hydrated glow with minimized pores. It contains Resveratrol which is found naturally in high amounts in red grapes and is an excellent soothing ingredient for skin. It is important that people try to keep their pores as clean as possible so that your skin can remain healthy and pain-free, as some pores can become painful if they get too big. There are many different things that you can do to keep your skin healthy and revitalized. For example, you can get information at blog.reneerouleau.com as well as other beauty sites so you can ensure that your skin gets better and not worse. This will become beneficial to you in the future. In the meantime, I can’t wait to use this product.
I was most excited to try this product, as it has an impressive good ingredient list for sensitive skin! I was also thinking about adding a primer back into my make up routine and on paper, this one ticked all my boxes. But after a few days of testing, I noticed and realized that it makes my makeup become a little more difficult to apply and ends up very streaky. When trying to apply foundation with your fingers, it’s like the pigment balls up letting no color get attached to the surface where you put the primer on. I tried it with my regular foundation and got the same result.
However, with some experimentation, I figured that when the foundation is applied with a BeautyBlender/ makeup sponge of some sort, or a really good makeup brush like the oval makeup brushes, the application improved so much to the extent that there wasn’t any problem anymore.
This primer can also be used alone for day time to blur out pores and add extra hydration.
+ Vitamin C, Resveratrol, Green Tea Extract, Fragrance-free, Silicon-free, Hydrating.
– Long setting time, Causes make up to streak if not applied with the right tool.
Foundations
Omiana has a rich selection of different foundations, so you’re bound to find one that works for you!
Their range includes everything from powder to creamy matte and mousse foundations.
Omiana | Tinted Nourishing Moisturizer in ‘Light Ivory’
Mica-Free, Boron Nitride-Free. Contains Beeswax, Titanium Dioxide, and Zinc Oxide.
The Tinted Nourishing Moisturizer is available in 6 shades. I had the opportunity to try the shade ‘Light Ivory’ which is a cool toned shade for light to medium skin. ‘Light Gold’ or ‘Medium’ would’ve probably been a better match for my skin tone. But because this tinted moisturizer is very sheer, the difference is almost not noticeable. I’d say that the picture on the website of this color is quite accurate, maybe just slightly lighter in real life.
This foundation is fragrance-free which is great for sensitive skin. It pumps out like a mousse and goes on pretty smoothly without attaching itself to dry patches. I’d like to think it blends easily with just your fingers but can tend to get a little bit streaky if you don’t work it in fast enough. Again, a makeup sponge fixes this issue. The Tinted Moisturizer also comes packed with active ingredients such as peptides and kombucha extract. Which is a very nice surprising addition, and definitely makes it work as a moisturizer alone. I don’t get any heaviness throughout the day with this foundation, and the skin feels relatively like skin.
I only wish it was a bit more strongly pigmented, as I feel like it’s not enough to make the skin look more even and brighter, it does not perform well in fading any dark or red spots. In other words: this one is more for those blessed with perfect and even skin already that just want some very light natural looking coverage. And while one pump is enough for the whole face, the pump itself could be a little softer, as it’s quite difficult to press out precisely how much you would want.
+ Peptides and Kombucha extract, Fragrance-free, Hydrating, Has not broken me out.
– Very sheer.
Omiana Foundation Swatch | From left to right: Omiana Intense Coverage Matte Liquid Foundation in Cashew, Tinted Nourishing Moisturizer in ‘Light Ivory’, and Natural Vegan Primer. Shot in natural lighting.
Omiana | Intense Coverage Matte Liquid Foundation in ‘Cashew’
No Mica, Ultramarines, Beeswax & More. Contains Squalane, Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide.
This foundation also comes in 6 shades. Unfortunately, the shade match was a bit too light for me even in the depths of winter. But I thought I’d give you a swatch as there’s not many out there. On their webpage, it looks more yellowed toned, in real life, it’s lighter and more pinkish.
This foundation, as you can hear by the name, is the right opposite of the tinted moisturizer. This one is for those looking for full coverage, and it delivers that without feeling too heavy. It doesn’t cover blemishes fully, but together with concealer, you’ll get an even canvas. It got the same problem with the pump as the tinted moisturizer, but one pump should be enough to cover the whole face.
Compared to the Tinted Moisturizer that feels more like a mousse, this one is much more liquid. Although it is more fluid, it was much harder to blend this one out to a streak-free finish. Because it has a matte quality, it dries up pretty quickly, and you have to work really fast with it. Again, a makeup sponge or a good brush will solve the problem though! Maybe it’s just me having problems who persists with using my hands lol
This foundation feels more suitable for oily skin as it tends to cling to dry patches. But combined with the primer, it can feel moisturizing enough for normal skin. Though I can’t see any fragrance listed on the ingredient list, it has a faint sweet smell of vanilla, which I don’t find overpowering at all.
+ Good coverage, Squalane, Nice scent, Vegan, Has not broken me out.
– Hard to blend out.
Omiana | Vegan Black Lengthening Mascara
Mica and Titanium Dioxide-free
First of all, Omiana chose to include Phenoxyethanol with an under-one-percent-ratio over herbal preservation systems in this Mascara, for sensitivity reasons. As by not preserving a natural product, especially one used around the eyes, is a heavy risk.
I like that this mascara is fragrance-free and doesn’t have a strong smell like many other mascaras, and doesn’t sting my eyes. The brush is good and makes my lashes look thick, but not so lengthening as the name might suggest but enough for someone with normal length lashes.
I’d describe the look it gives as “sultry” and is a perfect mascara for night time. The formula feels a bit dry on the lashes but stays put without flaking and irritating my eyes. It washes off easily with an eye makeup remover or micellar water. Lately, it’s become my go-to mascara!
+ Vegan, Fragrance-free.
Omiana | Vegan Mineral Lip Gloss in ‘Vivid Matte Vanilla Rose’
Titanium Dioxide-Free with Mica-Free Options. Comes in 9 shades – shimmer shades contain mica.
I haven’t worn lip gloss since I was like six or seven years old and it has never been my thing. But this vegan mineral lip gloss has me almost changing my mind… Maybe it’s the beautiful-universal-perfect-nude-shade or the fact that it’s matte which takes the glossy tackiness off?
It’s got the signature sweet vanilla scent that’s also found in the Matte Liquid Foundation. But while it says “matte”, it still got a creamy glossy finish. But the feeling of any hair strands getting caught up on the lips disappears within a few minutes. It’s more of a creamy lipstick than “matte” I would say, either way, I really like it! The color is well pigmented and lasts a long time.
+ Pigmented, Creamy and Hydrating.
Omiana | Creamy Mineral Lipstick in ‘Matte Light Pink’
Titanium dioxide-free, carmine-free, with mica-free options (choose among the matte for mica-free). Formula 1 & 4 are beeswax-free.
Omiana offers 17 shades in 5 different formulas. The lipsticks are highly pigmented, and if bright colors are your thing, you will absolutely love these!
My first thought was that the casing of this lipstick is very small. It almost gives you the illusion that you don’t get a lot of product. But lo and behold, I compared with my other lipsticks, and you actually get about 1.5 grams more than from other brands!
Though no fragrance or essential oils are listed in this particular formula, The Matte Light Pink has this bubble gum smell reminding me of those lip glosses I used in first grade. It has a base of castor oil but doesn’t feel drying at all with daily use. I thought the Light Pink would be more of a nude shade, but it’s actually a very bright pink with neutral tones. Nonetheless, it’s gorgeous and will suit most skin types. The lipstick goes on very buttery, which takes off the need to apply lip balm beforehand.
+ Vitamin E and A, Vegan Options, Large shade selection
