Recently just finished the ever-so-hyped-up Supreme Screen SPF50+ from Ultra Violette. I got it in my SpaceNK advent calendar and was excited to try it. As Everyone seems to bloody love this one! Yet, I have my thoughts 🙄… Let’s dive right in!
The Scent
First things first, let’s talk about the scent. Which no one seems to mention?! 👀 I was convinced I had gotten a spoiled product. However, my copy doesn’t expire until October… Of NEXT YEAR! It has a lingering nutty aroma that (to me) smells spoiled. 🤨 It was almost unbearable in the beginning as it lingers and I could smell my face throughout the day. 🤢 However, a few months in I must say that I got used to it and don’t get as bothered by it. But it’s still far from a scent I want on my face. Even my boyfriend agrees.
The Finish
The good stuff though 👉🏼 The texture of the Ultra Violette sunscreen is incredibly lightweight, and it glides onto the skin like a dream. Whether you choose to wear it on top of your moisturizer or alone, it feels comfortable and doesn’t weigh down your skin. That’s definitely a win in my book! 👌🏼
One of the standout features is how well it plays with makeup. I found that it acted as a smooth canvas for my foundation and didn’t interfere with the application process. It gives a shiny finish, which might not be everyone’s preference. If you love a dewy look, you’ll probably enjoy it, but if you prefer a more natural matte finish, some powder will do.
A major plus point for me was that this sunscreen didn’t leave behind any annoying white cast! It seamlessly blended into my skin, leaving it looking fresh and natural. Additionally, it didn’t sting my eyes, which is always a relief when wearing sunscreen throughout the day.
Conclusion
Overall, the Ultra Violette Supreme Screen is a solid sunscreen option for daily daytime wear. It’s not water and sweat-resistant though, so I wouldn’t wear it to the beach or the city on a hot day. Can be used in place of moisturizer for oily to normal skin. While the scent might not be to my liking, its compatibility with makeup and lack of white cast make it worth considering. And note, only I seem to be bothered by the scent. 😅
However, at £34… If you like and are satisfied with drugstore sunscreens like those from La Roche Posay, stick to them. I personally, won’t be repurchasing because of the scent, but also because I didn’t find the formula that special to be replacing my cheaper alternatives. 🤷🏻♀️ Otherwise, I would definitely look into some of their other products. Like their new fragrance-free fluid!
