✨ End of year musings ✨ First of all, thanks ✨ End of year musings ✨

First of all, thanks to everyone who’s not my mom or an old acquaintance from my past lol for sticking around yet another slow content year❣️No hard feelings if you do an yearly clean up and I don’t make the cut for next year though 😅

As much as I would like to come back and deliver informative content like everyone else… I’ve had to accept that I shine brighter in other settings. IG may be a wonderful medium for others but for me it’s been nothing than hitting my head against the wall and complaining why my head hurts. 🤕 And since consciously taking a backseat in 2020, I’ve proven myself that I don’t suck as much as I had myself believe. In my case, if life throws you lemons don’t try to make lemonade, ask why and from where they’re being thrown. 😅

✨2021 BEST… ✨

TV-show… White Lotus and Ted Lasso
- The fact that I just started binging Ted Lasso two days ago and it’s quickly become the best thing I’ve watched says a lot! 😂

Investment… @melissawoodhealth app
- Without a doubt❣️Stopped going to the gym, lifting and doing regular HIIT workouts, swapped it for walks and bite sized pilates. Finally lost the weight I gained and feeling comfortable in my skin. 🧘🏻‍♀️

Achievement… Luxury bargains and facing fears
- Price is relative, patience is gold, and facing fears makes you more bold. 😏

Life lesson… “You are not who you think you are”
- As we get older we often start identifying ourselves with certain behavior, smarts, and likes. We tell ourselves lies of who we are and what we’re capable of. Usually influenced by others around us, past beliefs and societal opinions. Lies limiting our truest potential and deepest desires. By ridding myself of old limiting beliefs I’ve surprised and even shocked myself with how multi-talented and diverse my identity can be. 💫

On that note, I’ll end by wishing you all a happy new year! Hope you’ll tag along for the next ✨♥️
Don’t you just love it when an expensive product Don’t you just love it when an expensive product doesn’t work for you? Or maybe you hate it as it was a waste of money 😅😝

It’s really worth repeating that a higher price tag doesn’t always = amazing results. What I’ve learned is that there are many different factors at play when it comes to pricing. Some brands want to offer new and exclusive formulations with studies behind them. Which isn’t cheap. Others are just starting off small batch, wanting to make it full time. And some just want the rich as their target consumer (looking at you Dr Sturm 🧐). And that’s all fine. 💁🏻‍♀️

I forgot the point I wanted to make. 😅

But if you’re interested in hearing my thoughts on some expensive Allies of Skin-products, hop on over to my blog! ☺️ (Link in bio)

Hint: The most expensive product was my least favorite. 👀

How has the past few months been for you? What new product are you loving?
✨🌸 CUSTOM HAIR CARE 🌸✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I've been using @functionofbeauty since February when I got them for my birthday. This is a brand I've been eyeing since they launched. 😍 The idea of customized hair care appealed to me as I always felt I had to let go of certain aspects. If I want volume, I can't have moisture, and if I wanted curl action, I will not get volume, etc. With customized hair care, I can make a formula that checks all my boxes... Well, so I thought. 😅
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I've realized that there are a few issues surrounding customed stuff... 🙄 In the case of FoB, the customer is responsible to know their hair and what it needs. However, I would say, that the majority of us don't have a clue! 🙈 Like, in my case, I chose goals after my wants, not necessarily what my hair needs. 😶 You would think those two go hand in hand, but they don't!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While it didn't end up in disaster, my expectations weren't met. But I can't blame the product or the brand, because I chose the formula. 🤷🏻‍♀️ This brings me to my next issue...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are literally more than ten thousand combinations to try. Which is one too many if the first concoction doesn't work for you. I mean, I'd rather try out a different line, than try to puzzle the right pieces together. 🙇🏻‍♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are other brands, like @prose (only US atm), where the customization is more like a consultation. So rather than you picking what you think would work, you do a quiz answering stuff about your hair and health. What's also interesting is that they take into account your environment and its humidity level. Which I think is genius! Nevertheless, even that won't totally guarantee the formula will work for you. 💁🏻‍♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While I can only speak for _this particular formula_ and how it worked with _my hair_, if you are interested to read my experience hop on over to my blog! 👉🏼 link in bio.

Have you tried custom hair care?

Two tinted sunscreens that don't get the attention Two tinted sunscreens that don't get the attention they deserve are the Avéne B Protect and Bioderma Anti-Redness. Both of which are tinted and deliver a high SPF of 50+. 💁🏻‍♀️

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For the short version 👇🏼
I would repurchase both! But do lean more towards Bioderma AR being the favorite 🌟 It's fragrance-free and water-resistant, unlike B Protect. Has a sheer yellowish tint that blends in better into my light to medium complexion. It's also more hydrating and has soothing ingredients which are great for my normal/dry acne-prone skin. The B Protect has things going for it too, like more coverage and less dewy finish. But in general, for my skin, the Bioderma AR felt like a better fit.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I picked up both and tested them out during winter/spring. So I can't, unfortunately, say how well they wear up during summer. But considering their small size (only 30ml 🙄), I would recommend opting for something that gives you more bang for your bucks as you will probably go through a tube pretty quickly in the summer.

Loelle Organic Face Oil – Argan & Barbary Fig Seed Oil

Loelle Face Oil De Luxe Barbary Fig Seed Oil Argan Oil

Scroll down for English!

Loelle | FACE OIL DE LUXE 30ml*

“In contrast, the oil extracted from the fruit’s seeds has a low content in vitamin E: 0.403 g/kg, mostly ?-tocopherol (0.330 g/kg). Such an amount is very low compared to argan oil content (7.6 to 8.6 g/kg)” – Molecules 19(9): 14879-14901. doi:10.3390/molecules190914879

Studien innehåller all denna information, sök på 3.3 Vitamins.

Loelle Face Oil De Luxe Barbary Fig Seed Oil Argan Oil

[ENGLISH]

Loelle | FACE OIL DE LUXE 30ml*

An oil that has been a majorly hyped in recent times thanks to luxury brands like La Bella Figura, is the cactus fig seed oil, also known as “Barbary Fig Seed Oil” and “Prickly Pear Seed Oil”. You can sometimes find the fruit at Lidl if you want a taste. It’s a sweet but rather difficult fruit to eat, not just because of the little cactus needles, but because there are more seeds in the fruit than actual pulp; the seeds are large and stone-hard. Even though a fruit carries a lot of seeds, it requires 1 ton of fruit to get 1 kg of oil, and hence the high price. It has been quite difficult to get pure cactus fig seed oil here in Sweden without having to pay high shipping charges (+duty). But finally, Loelle has taken home and introduced the oil to the Swedish market! Loelle came out earlier this year with three organic products in the theme: pure Barbary fig seed oil, a facial oil with argan oil, and a hair oil. And all products come in a luxurious gold bottle to match the gold inside! + A nice bonus is also that by buying products from Loelle you are supporting work for women in Morocco!

The Face Oil

The one I’ve been testing out is the facial oil that combines Morocco’s liquid gold (argan oil) with barbary fig seed oil. Exactly how much cactus oil is mixed in is unknown, but it can be anywhere between 10-50%, I guess. The oil sinks in slightly faster than plain pure argan oil and is somewhat more liquid in the consistency. It has a distinctive scent, but nothing left after application. The argan oil has a small tendency to sink as well as remain on the surface, but because of the small molecular structure of the cactus oil, it helps to minimize the effect of this. The cactus fig seed oil has a higher linoleic acid value than, for example, argan oil, and therefore can fit even better with oily and/or problematic skin; as oily and acneic skin types has shown to have lower levels of linoleic acid in their sebum and could, therefore, contribute to a more balanced sebum production. The actual comedogenic value of this oil is 0, and should not clog any pores and fit sensitive skin – but reactions to different ingredients are still individual. It should be recalled that oil compositions are more than just their oleic and linoleic acid values, but can be used as guidance! If you’re looking for products developed with sensitive, dry and healing skin in mind, you can find more from Circcell here.

High In Vitamin E (but not more than argan oil)

Nevertheless, the cactus fig oil is mainly marketed for more mature and sun damaged skin and said to help with pigmentation and wrinkles. Exactly what in the oil will help with pigmentation is a little unclear as it does not contain any large amounts of vitamin A or C that are commonly used for these purposes? Other things could be said for the fruit and its shell. The oil is reputed to have more vitamin E than argan oil, or at least have a high degree of the antioxidant, which can help with various skin problems and possibly make the oil more sustainable. I say “rumored” though, as most of the studies I have been able to find show that argan oil contains about <600mg kg or more, while a recent study from 2014 states that prickly pear seed oil has only about <400mg/kg (rounded down). Where other bloggers got their facts is uncertain. I have neither seen Loelle nor La Bella Figura seem to boast such an assertion on individual product’s pages, more than that the oil is rich in vitamin E, which is true. But there is no evidence that the seed oil would have as much as 1000mg/kg or even more than argan oil.

There’s an informative page about barbary fig seed oil that references and mentions the same paper. But other than that I have not been able to find another study that supports the other statements, more than blog posts without pointing to any references. I’m happy to receive studies to the contrary though!  What I can imagine happened, is that people misread about the fruit oil or even the essential oil from the fruit’s pulp, especially the peel, contains up to 17.6 g/kg of alpha-tocopherol, while the essential oil from the fruit pulp is rich in delta-tocopherol with 4.220 g/kg. But most facial oils are actually called seed oil, and then the claim of more vitamin E than argan oil is not correct. The study contains all of this information, search for “3.3. Vitamins”. But we can at least find that both (seed) oils are rich in vitamin E, especially gamma-tocopherol, which is terribly good for balancing hormones when taken internally, and which also has anti-inflammatory properties.

Loelle Face Oil De Luxe Barbary Fig Seed Oil Argan Oil

My Experience

A few years ago I had bought a cheap bottle of pure barbary fig seed oil that I tested for a short period of time. I was primarily interested in the properties that the oil would be good for acne. And, to the extent that this oil was put on the pedestal, I was a little disappointed, but mostly blamed the price. It felt like any other oil. Now the contents of this bottle are not pure cactus oil and so that the base is argan oil can have something to do with me feeling the similar effects that I have with argan oil. If you’ve followed me a long time, you know that I do love argan oil, but at the same time, we have a small love-hate relationship when it comes to applying it on the face. During winter it’s the best oil for hydration and protection, but during the rest of the year, the majority of use goes to the eyes and hair. Although argan oil is claimed to not clog any pores, it usually feels best on skin that has no pores on me. My husband, who has drier skin than me, likes it a little better. And according to him, his skin seemed to have flaked less this winter. And, as I said, I think this is a wonderful winter oil! I have mostly used it mixed with my night cream. Not that it’s too heavy for daytime as it drops in relatively quickly, but more so it leaves the skin … A little hard to explain … My skin has just been more comfortable using it at night simply, and I do not question it. But the more and closer we got to the summer and heat, this face oil has felt less okay on my skin. And I’ve been turning to my lighter favorites, such as jojoba and rosehip oil, but also squalane.

Packaging

This bottle needs a mention! The Face Oil De Luxe comes in a crispy golden bottle with a pump-pipette. This will definitely be reused! My only con is that the pipette feels a little witty and does not reach all the way down the bottle, but stops at half way down. However, the rest of the oil is easily used up by turning (open bottle) upside down and taking it with your finger instead.

Conclusion

If you feel like pure fig seed oil is a little bit out of your budget and have a good relationship with argan oil, I recommend testing this one out as it’s a slightly less greasy alternative! Even though the oil fits all skin types, I almost want to say that it’s more for drier skin that needs some extra care. (Thus, skin that lacks lipids, no dehydrated skin that lacks water) And I see many with “mature” skin who seem to go very well together with argan oil and cactus oil, in contrast to us who have a bit more troubled skin and prone to clogged pores. It does not replace your hyaluronic acid serum but may resemble a luxurious and caring oil booster for winter. Because it’s a dry oil, I would like to add that people with oily skin can find it of interest. But it may be a bit pricey compared to rosehip seed oil, which has similar characteristics, but not all tolerate it. And both cactus and argan oil work very well for sensitive skin. However, I do not want to say it can help acne, especially if the acne is hormonal. And I personally think that rosehip oil is better at treating pigmentation. In the end, oil is so individual and sometimes it may take several weeks before the skin adjusts. The whole oil’s fatty acid structure has to go together with one’s own like a puzzle, and it’s not always it does. Then I find that how and where the oil is extracted can play a role. Loelle’s cactus oil comes from Morocco, while La Bella Figuras comes from Tunisia. Both have a high price on the 100% pure oil. But there’s something to keep in mind when testing out. In addition, barbary fig seed oil may continue to grow in popularity, so you will see a price drop in the near future, as we’ve already seen with argan oil. Which will make the oil more accessible to everyone’s wallets! Unlike argan oil, which only grows in Morocco, the prickly pear fruit grows in several places around the world!

As of right now, Loelle’s products are only sold in Sweden

It’s soon the season to open advent calendars! 🎄🤩

While being busy with life I forgot to highlight my review on some of the luxury items found in last year’s CultBeauty advent calendar. 🙈

If you’re interested to hear my thoughts on:
• Glow Recipe Banana Souffle
• 111Skin Rose Gold Radiance Booster
• Votary Super Seed Oil
• Dr Dennis Gross B3Adaptive Stress Serum
• Dr Barbara Sturm Night Serum

Then hop on to my blog! (Link in bio) You’ll also find a review on the Augustinus Bader Creams in a separate post ✨

Can’t promise, but I’ll try my hardest getting out part 2 before the end of this year 🤞🏼

Are you getting a beauty advent calendar this year? If so, which one are you eyeing? 😀

🌼 Quarter Three Musings 🌼 Been busy… figu 🌼 Quarter Three Musings 🌼

Been busy… figuring out if math is related to science…
– And I’ll say no more until I know for sure. 🤔 But one thing’s for sure, there are such things as stupid questions. 💁🏻‍♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Keeping me grounded… Movement and active rest🧘🏻‍♀️
– with the help of the @balance app I’ve been trying to make at least 5 min of deep pause a daily habit to increase focus, motivation and understanding. And I’ve been surprisingly calmer compared to my other counterparts. 😅
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Best summer memory… Rooftop Pool 😎
– Not to mention that awkward encounter with people from high school 🙈😂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
New in beauty 🧖🏻‍♀️:
– Bioderma Cicabio Cream
– Ouai Air Dry Foam
– Skincity Skincare Kit
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Contemplating a lot on… What exactly defines one’s identity?
– And do we really have one or do we just tell ourselves that? 👀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Best purchase… Zara Seamless wear
– One of those, “insta made me do it”. 😄 I haven’t bought anything from Zara in years, but this they did good ⭐️ The most comfy, stretchy and soft leisure wear I’ve ever had👌🏼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Feeling good about… Myself 🥰
– The positive side effect of being off social media. 😏
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On my wishlist… the Dyson Supersonic 💇🏻‍♀️
– Kind of embarrassing to want one. 🙄 The price is ridiculous. And I’ll probably won’t be happy with it because of the high pitch sound only I seem to recognize 🙉 😂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Favorite streams 📺… “White Lotus” and “Mare of Easttown”
– Loved the mix of Faulty Towers meets murder mystery in White Lotus. And who can hate on anything starring Kate Winslet? 😍
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m looking forward to… Countdown to Christmas🎄
– Can’t wait to open advent calendars! And just like last year, I got myself one filled with beauty products 😁✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you tried custom hair care?
🌸 Quarter Two Musings 🌸
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I just started... knitting a summer top with dropped stitches I started a year ago
- I've frogged it twice in a year lol. Hopefully, third's a charm! 🤞🏼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I've been reading... The Beauty Detox Power by @_kimberlysnyder
- A book I’ve been meaning to read for years now. But everything has its divine timing. ✨ The message could’ve not been received more deeply than now.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m obsessing about… Cults
– As someone who loves psychology I've been utterly fascinated by cults lately. Loved watching all the NXIVM documentaries and started to see concerning patterns...
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve recently been bothered by... Microcult behavior in the beauty community (and social media overall)
- It’s like deja vu, and I feel like I’m the only one who sees it. Everyone thinks they are doing good and no one's pointing out the harm.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I've enjoyed… morning walks
- In a quest to avoid sun rash and control weight gain I moved my lunch walks to mornings and made them longer too. Can happily inform you that I've not suffered sun rash this year 👍🏼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Most played songs…
🎵 This must be the place - Talking Heads
🎵 This Wild Darkness (Loaded remix) - Moby
🎵 On Ice - Michael Nau
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My latest purchase… a small Pilates ball
– Slowly building my own home gym. This and a pair of ankle weights has really amplified results. 💪🏼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I've got my eye on… Milk Makeup Sunshine Skin Tint
– It's finally available in Sweden and now with more shades. Hopefully, will be able to do a swatch once I'm in Stockholm and see if it lives up to its hype.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I'm looking forwards to... celebrating 11 years with my boyfriend 🥳
– On this date, 11 yrs ago, I met my soul mate at a christening of all things. 😂 I knew back then that it's forever or never. ❤
Two tinted sunscreens that don't get the attention Two tinted sunscreens that don't get the attention they deserve are the Avéne B Protect and Bioderma Anti-Redness. Both of which are tinted and deliver a high SPF of 50+. 💁🏻‍♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you care to read a more detailed comparison, head to my blog! 👉🏼 Link in bio!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you tried these two? Tell me your thoughts below!

Don’t forget, it doesn’t matter. How you are o Don’t forget, it doesn’t matter.
How you are or who you are.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You’re allowed to brag and you can stay quiet.
You’re allowed to complain and you can stay away.
You’re allowed to have everything and show nothing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You do not have to do anything outside yourself or be anyone else to have what you want.
Just be true to yourself at all cost.
Don’t be ashamed of your genuine wants.

Stop the rituals of what to expect.
Only be your unapologetic self and know that you are already worthy of what is on its way.
Own your dreams and what you deeply want to experience.

Make peace with your past and know you’re expansive.

Whenever envy is expressed, see it as an reminder of what you’re not giving yourself.

The stars don’t tell the way without your belief in them.
That’s why it doesn’t matter,
As you, and only you, hold the power.
💕 Kaerlig 💕 #paidcollaboration
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In addition to a practical basics kit to get started with kegel exercises (see earlier post), @sinful.eu also offers organic intimate products. Their Kaerlig-line is produced in Denmark with a high proportion of organic and natural ingredients. Most products are also Nordic Swan Eco-labeled and allergy-tested. 👌🏻
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I've tested out their organic lubricant and O gel, both of which are latex and toy-safe. I was very skeptical about the O gel and have never tried any O enhancing product before. But got a (quite literally 😊️) warm surprise of how well it works! Have you tried anything similar or am I late for the train?

💇🏻‍♀️ On growing your hair long 💇🏻‍♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I first started growing out my hair, five years ago (after my "big chop"), I was like a sponge sucking in all the information on how to grow it out long, thick, healthy, and fast! During these past years, I've learned that it all comes down to so many factors that one can't just run a comb through and say this is how you should do it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In one of my latest blog post, I poke at some of the advice I've come across on IG and YT that I don't follow or believe in considering my _hair type_. Cause there seems to be a trend of products, treatments and the advice given. But something that's not talked about in the #longhaircommunity is the importance of hair type, lifestyle, and genetics!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I found that most girls being glorified for their long hair usually have genetically thick hair, not only that, but also straight hair. Two things my hair is not. And I was trying to follow their formula. 🤦🏻‍♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Straight and thick hair has more resistance against breakage. So naturally, they have the upper hand when it comes to the right circumstances for growing hair long and healthy. Emulating someone with a different texture hair may set you up for disappointment and unnecessary struggle.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you've missed it, check the link in my bio and go read my post on the 5 hair myths I no longer subscribe to. 💁🏻‍♀️
I discuss whether you should or should not trim your hair, how often you should wash your hair for hair growth, and should you use silicones or only opt for natural hair care? And more!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Just like we take into account our skin type when buying products and listening to skincare advice, we should do the same with our hair!
