A few months ago, I was the lucky winner to win a complete sample kit from Raw Gaia! I’ve been eyeing their products for a while and was about to purchase a few samples, so I got really got really excited to win it all instead!
Raw Gaia by Jessica makes beauty products out of raw ingredients, like butter and oils.
Floral Rejuvenating Cream
Made for all skin types. On a hydration scale, this one would fall somewhere in the middle but slightly thicker than some of the other creams. This one really takes the price in best scented and is a joy to blend into your skin. I would usually use this one at night.
INGREDIENTS: Cold pressed: Cacao Butter, Evening Primrose Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil; Essential Oils of Geranium, Lavender & Palmarosa.
Hemp Heaven Moisturizer
Made for all skin types, but focuses on troubled skin.
This one stood out the most for my combination and acneic skin, and I loved the cacao-orange scent.
It’s rich but melts right in, even more so than the Floral Rejuvenating Cream. I later recreated it using my own oils.
INGREDIENTS: Cold pressed: Cacao Butter, Apricot Kernel Oil, Hemp Oil, Wheatgerm Oil; Essential Oils of Lemon & Sweet Orange.
Calendula & Hypericum Baby Cream
I was unsure about this one and used it up last. It was mainly created for babies with/and sensitive, eczema, psoriasis skin types, not acne-prone. But it ended up being my favorite after Hemp Heaven. I think my acneic skin liked it because it was no fuss ingredients. If you’re one of those who avoid essential oils in natural products then I can’t recommend this one enough.
It calmed my skin down and hydrated it enough.
INGREDIENTS: Cold pressed: Cacao Butter, Apricot Kernel Oil; Macerated Calendula, Comfrey & St. John’s Wort in Sunflower Oil.
MSM Beauty Cream
Suited for all skin types, but especially mature or damaged skin types.
MSM, or Methyl Sulphonyl Methane, is a nutritional form of sulfur that becomes very popular these days in natural products.
I went through all the samples in the summer, so none of them were rock solid. I liked the MSM beauty cream but it felt a bit inconvenient than the other ones because of the MSM crystals. I don’t know if I can agree with it being suited for all skin types, especially sensitive. Because of the MSM crystals, the texture of the cream felt grainy and a lot like a facial scrub. I opted to use it at night, but because it was so much like the MSM Beauty Scrub, which has some more and better ingredients, I easily went and used the scrub as a leave-on night treatment.
Maybe it’s a personal matter, I like to keep things simple applying my moisturizer all over the face, but with this one, I had to avoid the eye area.
INGREDIENTS: Cold pressed: Cacao Butter, Apricot Kernel Oil, Jojoba Oil; MSM Crystals; Essential Oils of Frankincense & Myrrh.
MSM Beauty Spray
Made for all skin type, especially oily, except dry.
Days when my skin felt more oily the MSM Beauty Spray was perfect, though it wasn’t as lasting, in terms of economics, as the solid moisturizers, and took some time getting used to in how to use and how much. Moisturizers in spray bottles are new for me.
Even though this one contained MSM too, the grainy bits wasn’t a problem here. It’s the lightest moisturizer from the ones I’ve tried and would very much suit those with oily skin. I don’t know if I’m as fond of the spray-format; with the creams, a little goes a long way.
INGREDIENTS: MSM; Cold-pressed: Argan Oil, Rosehip Oil; Frankincense Floral Water; Frankincense Essential Oil.
For Her Sons Living Moisturiser
I tested this one, but I gave it to my boyfriend in the end. This one had the most overpowering scent. With the other moisturizers the scent would only linger on for a while, but this one you could feel hours after application. Even though this one is made for men, the scent is much unisex and ingredients-wise very good for acne-prone skin.
My man did like it very much, but it wasn’t enough for his eczema/psoriasis-prone skin. We don’t know exactly what he’s got.
INGREDIENTS: Cold pressed: Cacao Butter, Apricot Kernel Oil, Jojoba Oil; Essential Oils of Ylang Ylang, Lavender & Patchouli.
Conclusion
★★★★★
I wouldn’t mind owning just about everything in full size that I’ve just mentioned in this post to use on different occasions and seasons. But you don’t need them all. Whether you’re acne-prone or not, both Hemp Heaven and the Floral Rejuvenating cream will do wonders; they both contain healing ingredients. Raw Gaia is one of few skincare companies that make 100% pure no-fuss skin care products. With “no-fuss” I mean that they are not trying to fit in a hundred varieties of extracts and whatnot. It’s just pure oils and you could actually do them at home. But most of us are lazy, so we buy instead.
I recommend getting in touch with the people at Raw Gaia, they are really helpful. I asked them what they had for acneic skin and what could help with scarring and I got a long reply, that was lovely.
