Apart from their cult-favorite Huile Prodigieuse dry oil, Nuxe hasn’t really drawn me in to explore their other products. That all changed when I found myself on the hunt for a fragrance-free cleansing oil. My search initially led me to the Caudalie Cleansing Oil (review here), which opened my eyes to some of the more underrated French skincare brands, including Nuxe.
As I delved deeper, I discovered that Nuxe also offers a fragrance-free cleansing oil as part of their Very Rose line. Intrigued, I started looking into the entire collection and quickly realized that there weren’t many people talking about it—especially the cleansing products. This piqued my curiosity, and I decided to give the Very Rose line a try.
Nuxe Very Rose Creamy Make-up Remover Milk
The Nuxe Very Rose Creamy Make-up Remover Milk is a gentle, milk-to-oil cleanser designed to dissolve makeup and impurities while soothing the skin. It’s ideal for those with sensitive and dry skin or anyone who prefers a light, milky makeup remover. Enriched with rose floral water, known for its calming properties, this product is a comforting option for daily cleansing.
Benefits:
- Gentle on sensitive skin
- Milk-to-oil formula provides a soft, nourishing cleanse
- Leaves the skin feeling hydrated and soothed
How to Use
You can apply this cleansing milk in two ways:
- Direct Application: Dispense a small amount of the lotion onto your fingertips, spread and warm the texture in your hands, then massage over your face and eyes to dissolve makeup.
- Cotton Round: Apply on a cotton round and gently swipe across the face to remove makeup and impurities.
Be sure to rinse your face with toning water on a cotton pad, like the Very Rose Toning Mist, or use a damp face cloth to remove any remaining product and makeup residue from your skin.
My Experience
I find this product to be a nice addition to my morning skincare routine, with a lovely, gentle rose scent. The milk-to-oil transformation provides a nourishing cleanse, and I often use it alongside my Sacheu Gua Sha, as the lotion creates a perfect oily slip for facial massage. While the scent is a bit lingering, it adds to the overall sensorial experience, making the routine feel more indulgent.
As much as I like the milk-to-oil texture, I’ve noticed that it doesn’t rinse off completely with just water, which is a small downside for me. It leaves the skin soft but with an oily residue that requires an extra step—either swiping with a toning mist or using a damp face cloth—to ensure the skin is thoroughly clean. For those with very dry skin, this feature may be an upside, but I personally would’ve preferred if it washed off with just water.
While I enjoy using it in the mornings, I wouldn’t rely on it as my sole makeup remover in the evening. For that purpose, I find the Very Rose cleansing oil to be much more thorough. The Very Rose Milk Cleanser is best suited for those who wear minimal makeup, and those with dry or sensitive skin.
Nuxe Very Rose Delicate Cleansing Oil
The Nuxe Very Rose Delicate Cleansing Oil is a lightweight, fragrance-free cleansing oil that effectively removes makeup and impurities while being gentle on the skin. It’s formulated without added fragrances, making it an excellent choice for those with sensitive skin or anyone who prefers a minimalistic approach to skincare.
Benefits:
- Fragrance-free, suitable for sensitive skin
- Effectively removes makeup, including waterproof formulas
- Emulsifies and rinses off cleanly, leaving no residue
How to Use
Dispense 2-3 pumps into dry hands and gently massage the oil onto dry skin, focusing on areas with makeup. Add a splash of water to emulsify the oil, turning it into a milky consistency. Continue to massage before rinsing off thoroughly with lukewarm water.
My Experience
The Nuxe Very Rose cleansing oil is a true gem that deserves more attention! I’m impressed by how effectively it removes makeup, leaving my skin soft and clean without any residue or irritating my eyes. I barely find that I need to follow up with a second foaming wash. The fact that it’s fragrance-free is a big plus, especially for those who are sensitive to scents.
However, I did find the texture to be a bit too liquid for my liking. It’s easy to spill, which can be frustrating. I also had an issue with the packaging—the twist nozzle is convenient but not secure enough for travel. I experienced some leakage, which was disappointing, especially since this product would otherwise be perfect for on-the-go use.
Despite these minor issues, I would definitely consider repurchasing it. It’s affordable, effective, and gentle—everything I look for in a cleansing oil.
Nuxe Very Rose Refreshing Toning Mist
The Nuxe Very Rose Refreshing Toning Mist is a hydrating and calming facial spray. It’s designed to refresh and cleanse the skin while providing a gentle layer of moisture, making it a perfect addition to both your morning and evening routines.
Benefits:
- Hydrating and calming formula
- Infused with rose water, glycerin, and allantoin
- Ideal for toning or layering hydration throughout the day
How to Use:
You can use this toning mist in a few different ways:
- As a Toner: After cleansing, spray the mist onto a cotton round and gently swipe across your face to remove any remaining impurities from your cleanser and prep your skin for the next steps in your skincare routine.
- As a Hydrating Mist: Hold the bottle at least a foot away from your face and mist lightly. This helps to layer hydration or refresh your skin throughout the day without drenching your face.
My Experience
I really like this toning mist and can see myself repurchasing it in the future. The formula is wonderfully hydrating and calming. It leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed, making it a lovely addition to my skincare routine.
However, I did have some expectations regarding the scent. While it’s pleasant, I was hoping for a more authentic rose water fragrance. Instead, the scent leans more toward a perfume-like aroma, which, while not overpowering, can sometimes feel a bit pungent.
Another aspect that could be improved is the spray nozzle. I found that to get a true mist effect, I had to spray it from a distance of nearly a foot, rather than the recommended 15 centimeters. Otherwise, it tends to spray too much product, leaving my face quite wet. To solve this, I’ve started reusing a Byoma face mist bottle, which has a much better nozzle.
On the bright side, the Very Rose Toning Mist is quite affordable—you get 200ml for about €20 or less, making it a good value for a product of this quality. I think it’s best used as a toning water applied with a cotton round or for layering hydration.
Conclusion
Overall, the Nuxe Very Rose line offers a soothing and gentle approach to skincare, particularly suited for those with sensitive skin or anyone looking for affordable cleansing products.
The Very Rose Creamy Make-up Remover Milk is a lovely option for morning use and for those with dry and mature skin, especially if you enjoy incorporating a face massage into your routine. However, it might not be the best choice for heavy makeup removal.
On the other hand, the Very Rose Cleansing Oil stands out for its effectiveness and fragrance-free formula, though the packaging and liquid texture could use some improvement. I did share a sample with a friend who has extremely sensitive skin, and unfortunately, it caused some redness despite its gentle formulation. However, if you have very sensitive skin, you’re likely already cautious when introducing new products into your routine.
Finally, the Nuxe Very Rose Refreshing Toning Mist is a hydrating and calming addition to any routine. While the scent may not be the pure rose fragrance I expected, and the spray nozzle could use improvement, the mist still delivers great value with its soothing formula and affordability. It works well as both a toning water and a hydrating mist throughout the day.
In summary, if you’re looking for a gentle, rose-infused skincare routine, the Nuxe Very Rose line is worth considering. The Delicate Cleansing Oil, in particular, is a hidden gem that I highly recommend for anyone seeking a no-fuss, effective cleanser.
