Until my recent purchase of face creams, I had almost more face masks than other skincare products. And except for the Pai Rapid Radiance Mask, most of them are clay masks that don’t focus much on moisture. I’ve been wanting to invest in a good hydrating mask, and while discovering MyChelle products I came across their Hydrating Cactus Mask that seemed to have gotten a lot of likes.
MyChelle Dermaceuticals | Hydrating Cactus Mask
★★★★☆
Skin type: Normal to Dry
The directions for the Hydrating Cactus Mask says to spread a thin layer over the face, so I press out just a pea size dollop which is enough to evenly spread over my face and neck. For being a moisture mask, it doesn’t feel messy at all. It sinks in fast, leaving your face kind of rubbery. It’s perfect though if you want to treat yourself over the night, it will not stain your pillowcase. After 5-15 min you wash it off and your face feels much soothed and hydrated.
The packaging is great, however, the amount of product you get for the price is kind of disappointing. The tube is so much smaller than I imagined, containing only 35ml. I was hoping to get something more in the size of the Pai’s rosehip mask. I also compared the price per ml, and the price is about 30% more. However, ingredient-wise, you do get a lot more complex with MyChelle.
Except for the coolish blue hue (stained by Malachite I assume), that’s just screaming “Quench!”, I need to comment on the scent. It’s got this sweet bubblegum smell, but on a second thought, it reminds me a lot of those glues we kids used to sniff! Call me weird, I don’t know about you, but I completely L O V E D that smell! So finding it 20 years later in a skincare product, makes me feel somehow very nostalgic and in love with this product.
The Hydrating Cactus Mask from MyChelle works also great as a travel mask and seems to do a good job in soothing any new pimples that seem to be on their way, as it managed to reduce a few around my chin. And nothing felt better from a day of travel to come home and put this mask on before bed! I’ll be sure to have it with me together with a pack of facial wipes next time I’m boarding a long flight.
With Cactus extracts, Blue Agave, Prickly Pear, Malachite, Copper Peptide and Hyaluronic Acid, this mask impresses me! The only downfalls is the price and the size, but also the general use of Palm oil in some of the MyChelle products. However, I’d still like to explore more face masks from MyChelle! And in complete honesty, I personally like the Cactus mask more than the Pai Rosehip mask, but both are very nice in their own way.
