Bubble trouble all the way from South Korea! When Cassie at CloudyApples showed us a demo of the Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask mask I literally fell off on the floor laughing my ass off, and I still do re-watching the whole bit! Who can ever forget such a face? Because she did that so well, I’ll just forward you guys to the video and spare myself that entertaining embarrassment ;)
Instead, I’ll try to look serious and fashionable in this carbonated mask… Did I succeed? Or is it just impossible to not look funny with this on? I never thought I’d find an all natural Asian product. No offense to the leading countries in skincare, but you seem more science-y filled with parabens than stuff you could actually name or eat. After getting the details that it is all natural, pretty cheap and that you get free shipping, there was nothing stopping me to order this mask!
Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask
★★★★★
COST: $9.56
SKIN TYPE: All Skin Types, Including Sensitive
Well, you know how much I love me some clay masks, but the number one problem with them is that they tend to dry too quickly to even effect the skin with their good minerals and nutrients! One way is to apply a damp towel over your face, but if you’re like me who likes to multi-task while wearing a mask, this isn’t an option. That’s where the carbonated feature comes in: it keeps the clay moist during the whole waiting.
After a good laugh, and the very persuasive free shipping, it was on its way to me.
The mask starts to bubble quite quickly, so it’s a race against the clock to apply this one over the face.
What it is & What it does
Basically, it’s a simple clay mask only it’s spiced with carbon that makes the mask bubble and expand – this gives your skin a gentle exfoliation and a funny look (say hi to your fat self!). Containing charcoal powder it’s detoxing, penetrating the pores and draws out dirt. It supposed to cleanse, refine and tighten the pores, and even be good for oily skin types helping control excess sebum. And not to mention, it contains just only natural stuff!
Packaging
It comes with a tight seal and a spoon to whisk up the product. I’d say that the tight seal is necessary but you’ll need the help of a knife every time you want to open the product, unless you’ve got nails of steel you probably won’t have any problems. The spoon gives you the right amount of product to cover your whole face, including your neck. Seriously, don’t go overboard with this mask, a tiny bit is just enough!
And why this is even called “Milky Piggy” and has a cute little piggy on their packaging when the product does not contain either milk or piggy parts is a mystery of its own… What I do know is that they claim to not do animal testing, but whether they sell this product in China I’m unsure.
2 in 1 Product
After your five minutes are up (I usually take ten) it’s time to stop looking so jolly. When coming in contact with water, this mask starts to foam like an average foaming cleanser. It can bubble a bit too much to the point big bubbles form around your nostrils and you can’t breathe… Therefore I highly recommend scrubbing it off with a sponge, to keep the breathing pathways open! So no one has to die during such a silly thing.
So in many ways, this mask does act as a cleanser and a mask (and a killer) in the same product!
Because of the foaming, your face may and may not feel squeaky clean afterwards depending on your skin type. Cassie does mislead you a bit with her healthy glow, as it will come after you’ve put on your moisturizer. Duhh. I also can’t comment on the effect it has on pore size, ’cause I don’t have large pores, but I’ve noticed black heads more prominent and easy to remove.
Warnings
The mask can be messy when it has expanded enough, making foam dust fly away from your face when coming in contact with light wind. And not to mention, can cause sore face muscles from laughing at yourself. Usually these two problems are connected.
Verdict
The Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask has become my absolute favorite of the bunch! It gets your blood flowing to your face with all the laughs you’ll be having, which you will be having every single time, especially the time you accidentally managed to take too much! Don’t know about you, but I believe laughs makes you younger, not older.
But what I do like the most about it is its feature to keep the clay moist, letting it has its effect on the skin, instead of drying and just sitting there, which was the the thing that attracted me the most. Also, the prize is totally affordable for being an all natural, high tech and fun product, with awesome ingredient! Will definitely repurchase.
