As you may know by now, from following me on social media, I’ve taken on crocheting since March. After some MASSIVE encouragement by you guys and a lot of practicing, I’ve decided that an Etsy shop is the next big step! I eventually chose Etsy as it seemed the most straightforward to use in my opinion, even though I had friends recommending that I start a Shopify store. It was difficult to pick between the two, but I decided to go with Etsy. One of my friends told me that Shopify stores are easier to grow, especially when you use an agency like Victorious (https://victoriousseo.com/verticals/shopify-seo/) for marketing help. I did consider Shopify, but after doing research, I decided that Etsy seemed better for my business. To be honest, I have high hopes for Etsy because if the Etsy shop does really well, then I might also consider opting for a land-based shop. I won’t lie, I have always dreamt of one–a small shop on a corner of the street with a traditional hand lettering signage, perhaps made with the help of firms like Mighty Signs (who can be found by searching for signs brighton on the Web), laminated glass for storefront and windows, and a shopkeepers’ doorbell. Just imagining this is giving me goosebumps. Trust me, I really hope, I can someday have a traditional shop for myself! Anyway, for now it is my Etsy shop that we are going to talk about!
Exciting stuff, right?!
As I’m still in the process of finishing up some projects and figuring out a name for my shop, you’ll just have to wait a little bit longer for the grand opening…
I have plans to expand the handmade products to include various of other things that I love doing, like skincare, jewelry, and pot-hangers. But really, who knows what direction this shop will take. I would love to have my own physical store one day too, it’s a huge dream of mine. I’ve been looking at store fixture equipment and some local stores which I could rent out monthly and it seems viable. I can’t imagine anything better than my own shop. But for now, I’ll try Etsy. The products could be endless one day, so hopefully, you’ll all support my store and help my business to grow.
Whilst I’m super excited about starting my Etsy store, the future goal is to be able to have a business big enough that allows me to actually open a physical store. In fact, I think that would be one of my proudest achievements in life if this could be done. But there will be a lot of things that I would need to think about before this could be made possible. From buying money counters that would help to make the counting of the money easier, to hiring employees, as well as finding a location for my shop are all considerations that must be thought about in a great deal before this dream becomes a reality.
For now, I must make sure I take the time to focus on the task in front of me, instead of getting too carried away with what could happen in the future.
It’s all new and exciting right now, and we’ll see how it develops further with my handmade experiments.
Hopefully at the end, I will have a collection of favorites that will set the base of my shop.
So, stay tuned for that!
